Maddi Gloria
Dance director / dance instructor
Maddi is from Portland and began working at Westside at age 15! She left Oregon for the East Coast and retuned to Westside in 2012.
Maddie began dance at age five and continued training at Westside until she was 15 when she joined the Jefferson Dancers. After high school she went on to Philadelphia, where she obtained a BFA in Modern Dance with honors from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She lived in Philly after graduating and continued to perform as a freelance dancer and work as a festival associate for the National High School Dance Festival. Career highlights include performing Helios from Acts of Light (choreographed by Martha Graham), working for the organization that helped lead to her college of choice (NHSDF), and returning to work at the studio where she grew up dancing!
Maddi loves seeing the progress each dancer makes — big or small. She also loves the look on their face after a great performance, or seeing them overcome challenges in the classroom and master something that they had been struggling with.
Aside from work, she loves to spend time with her family — hiking or playing outside with her husband and daughter, enjoying yummy restaurants with her parents and sisters, camping, working out or going to a yoga class. Her 1 1/2 year old daughter started taking baby gym classes at Westside this year and loves it! She’s hoping she enjoys dance just as much once she is old enough!
