This coursework gradually introduces advanced gymnastics techniques to very young but emotionally and mentally mature athletes. The programming is age-specific, goal-oriented, and structured. Your child will be pleased to rise to new challenges and explore interesting gymnastics moves across all the events (beam, bars, floor, vault). Themes for this age group: practicing athletic conditioning, maintaining focus, building independence, and learning gymnastics shapes.
Intro to Devos B (ages 5.5 - 6.5) and Intro to Devos A (ages 6.5 - 7.75)
This coursework jump-starts advanced gymnastics technique learning for young athletes who are ready and willing to pursue gymnastics in a highly regimented and progress-oriented way. The programming is age-specific, goal-oriented, and structured. Your child will be pleased to rise to new challenges and explore interesting gymnastics moves across all the events (beam, bars, floor, vault). Themes for these groups: acquiring a solid baseline of strength and flexibility, learning gymnastics shapes, and building both self-discipline and self-motivation.
Devos 3, 2, 1 (ages 6 - 8.5)
This coursework is highly regimented and progress-oriented with the ultimate goal being to make it onto a team at Westside! The programming is highly structured, extremely technique-oriented and highly progressive. Your child will be consistently encouraged and informed on how to succeed in executing basic competitive gymnastics moves across all the events (beam, bars, floor, vault). Themes for these groups: acquiring an advanced baseline of strength and flexibility, perfecting gymnastics shapes, maintaining self-discipline and self-motivation, and perfecting basic gymnastics skills which will serve as the building blocks to competitive routine.
Gym Xpress (ages 8-11)
This 'hybrid' coursework will allow candidates to train at an 'Accelerated pace' so that they may pursue Xcel team with confidence! The programming is for candidates ages 8+ who are identified by the Xcel staff and Accelerated staff as a potential future fit for Xcel team. This will allow your athlete to train the required skills and conditioning to successfully tryout for Xcel team (Spring tryouts for Summer Team acceptance). Your child will be consistently encouraged and informed on how to succeed in executing basic competitive gymnastics moves across all the events (beam, bars, floor, vault). Themes for these groups: bridging their passion for gymnastics to the strength, flexibility, and skills training required for their age group and competitive goals.
Boys Accelerated Gymnastics
Boys Club Track (ages 10 - 12)
This coursework allows athletes to:
* learn routines in a modified format to allow for versatility, accessibility and fun
* join a program that provides an opportunity for them to walk into the gym, join a goal-oriented team and workout for pleasure, without extra commitment
* learn the basic building block skill requirements to promote gymnastics progressions with minimal hours of training (perfect for those candidates who love to do multiple sports or are dedicated to hobbies/enrichment activities)
This is a great class for boys who are introduced to gymnastics at a later age. The easier, simplified progressions provide a process of achievement that can keep pre-teen and teenage boys engaged and encouraged
Low-key competitions may be introduced at a later stage
Boys Pre-Team (ages 6 - 8)
This coursework allows your young athlete to do the following:
* learn about men's gymnastics on all 6 mens apparatuses
* apply themselves to working out and practicing like a future competitive athlete (this class is regimented, structured and progress-oriented)

* have the opportunity to develop mental and emotional stamina as they make athletic goals and work toward them
* master a freestanding handstand hold, the middle splits, and a muscle-up!
Junior Trainers (ages 4.75 - 6)
This coursework allows your young athlete to do the following:
* learn more about the sport of mens gymnastics
* learn what it means to workout and practice like a competitive athlete (this class is more structured and regimented - it will require more dedication and focus than a rec class)
