Dance Troupe & performing Company
Our accelerated Dance Troupe trains in all areas and is a great path to our performance groups: Hip Hop Company, Ballet Company, Elite Acrobatics, Performing Company and Northwest Fusion. Company dancers perform and compete locally and nationally. Many dancers participate in our annual Nutcracker/Holiday showcase and spring recital.

Accelerated
Dance Troupe — our Troupe program is on an accelerated track and is designed to prepare students for our Performing Company. Troupe competes and performs throughout the year, participates in our Nutcracker performance in December and travels to Disneyland every two years to take classes and perform on stage in the park. Troupe members will train in Ballet, Tap and Jazz two days a week.
Performance
Westside Ballet Company (WBC) is an extension of Performing Company at Westside Dance Academy. Dancers must currently be enrolled in Performing Company to be invited to participate in Westside Ballet Company. WBC focuses on classical ballet for dancers interested in additional training beyond regular weekly ballet classes. Dancers will participate in an additional role in the annual production of the Nutcracker Holiday Showcase and additional choreography for the year end recital performed at the Newmark Theatre in downtown Portland.
Elite Acrobatics is an accelerated acrobatic performance group. All elite acro classes are held at our Training Center.
Hip Hop Company is an accelerated program for dancers who will receive more extensive training in hip hop. They will perform and compete locally and regionally. An additional jazz, ballet, or hip hop class is required for all company members.
Northwest Fusion is a pre-professional company for dedicated dancers looking for intensive training that will prepare them for a professional career. Visit their website for more information.
Performing Company is made up of talented dancers who train in an accelerated program between 8 and 10 hours a week. They participate in competitions and dance conventions both regionally and nationally. Perforrming Company members have the opportunity to travel to New York or LA each year to take classes and experience the professional dance world as well as bond with their fellow dancers. Performing Company dancers will also participate in our annual Nutcracker, our Spring Acro Showcase and our end of the year recital held in downtown Portland at the Newmark Theater.
Optional Performing Company (PC) Classes
Conditioning and Flexibility: this class focuses on building strength specifically for dancers as well as increasing range of motion in all skills. Learning how to properly strengthen, lengthen and extend your muscles is vital for improving flexibility, range of motion and mobility, while also working on balance, stability, and coordination.
Leaps and Turns: this class consists of various drills and exercises used to improve technique. It is a technique class designed to improve the overall ability of the student as they work to increase extension, flexibility, turns with more precision and various leaps. Students will focus on a variety of leaps, jumps, and turns/turn sequences appropriate for age and level.
Ellove: the ellove technique is a conditioning and cross-training class. The pure techniques of ballet, yoga, fitness and Pilates are set to music in a seamless movement sequence that improves strength, flexibility and control.
Musical Theatre: Here is your chance to work on performing! Musical Theatre is a jazz based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage! This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connection with the audience and facial expressions.
Ballet - wear any color leotard, ballet tights and pink ballet shoes with laces tucked in or trimmed. Short ballet skirts are okay. Hair should be in a neat bun. Males should wear a solid black or white fitted shirt, black solid shorts/pants (not baggy), and black or white ballet shoes.
Contemporary - wear comfortable slim fitting clothing (dance top/leotard and leggings/shorts) and either dance socks, foot paws or half soles.
Disney Hip Hop - wear comfortable athletic clothing and black converse style shoes, to be worn in class only. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or off the face.

Jazz - wear any color leotard, dance top, athletic shorts, leggings, or pants and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or off the face.
Junior Express - wear any color leotard and tights for ballet; students may add dance top, dance shorts or leggings for tap and jazz. Tap, ballet and jazz shoes are required. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or bun.
Mini Express - wear any color leotard and tights for ballet; students may add dance top, dance shorts or leggings for tap and jazz. Tap, ballet and jazz shoes are required. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or bun.
Movers & Shakers - comfortable clothing dancers can move in; tap shoes are encouraged.
Musical Theater - wear any color leotard, dance top, athletic shorts, leggings or pants and jazz shoes. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or off the face.
Open Acro - wear any color leotard, dance top, athletic shorts, leggings or pants. No shoes required.
Petite Express - wear any color leotard and tights for ballet; students may add dance top, dance shorts or leggings for tap and jazz. Tap, ballet and jazz shoes are required. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or bun.
Pre-Ballet - wear a solid color leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes with laces tucked in or trimmed. Hair should be in a neat bun.
Princess Dance - wear any color leotard and tights or dance shorts. Tap and pink ballet shoes are required.
Storybook Ballet - wear any color leotard and tights with pink ballet shoes with laces tucked in or trimmed. Hair should be in a neat bun.
Tap - wear any color leotard, dance top, athletic shorts, leggings or pants. Tap shoes are required. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or off the face.
Tap/Jazz - wear any color leotard, dance top, dance shorts or pants. Tap and jazz shoes are required. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or off the face.
Tap/Jazz/Tumble - wear any color leotard, dance top, dance shorts or pants. Tap and jazz shoes are required. Hair should be in a neat ponytail or off the face.

: All families will be charged a single annual registration fee of $40 effective September 1, 2024
: The customer is responsible for notifying the office of any changes to their child’s enrollment. No tuition refunds will be given once a new month has started. If a student drops mid-month, they will be eligible for an in-house credit on their account only. This may be applied to any future classes or events. Please note that all make ups are forfeited at the time you drop your class (please note new policy beginning September 1st).
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2024: It is the customer's responsibility to inform our office in writing of any changes to their child's enrollment. If we are not notified by the last day of the month to drop a class, tuition will be automatically charged on the 1st of the month. No tuition refunds will be given once a new month has started. If a student drops out of a class mid-month, an administrative fee of $15 will be charged, and a pro-rated in-house credit will be given on their account only. No credits will be given for classes dropped with fewer than two classes remaining in the current month. This credit may be applied to any future classes or events. Note that you will forfeit all make-ups when you drop your class.
For all families NOT set up on our Autopay, please note the following late fee changes:
* if tuition is not received by the 5th of the month, a $25 late fee will be incurred
* payment not received by the 10th of the month will incur an additional $25 late fee
* payments not received by the 15th of the month will result in your child being dropped from the class/es he/she is enrolled in. We can not guarantee space availability to re-enroll if your child is dropped from a class.
: Workshops, Camps, Parents Night Out, Birthday Parties and Lunch Bunch are not eligible for extra discounts, unless specified per event
